Guys.. this always brings me back to my childhood..My mom would make home made applesauce and smell up the whole house.. Then when it was still warm she would take a plain doughnut, top with a scoop of icecream and cover with hot applesauce... OMGosh it was heaven on earth.... So I took her recipe and changed it up just a bit... enjoy
It is not really something I measure, who am I kidding.. I don't measure anything... but I will do my best...I like to mix and match a variety of apples but your best bet will be Fuji and granny, and breaburn..
Cut and core 10 apples or more.. (if you have a food mill that separates the peals from the pulp .. if not.. then cut, core and peal)
Put enough water in the pot so that it doesn't cover the apples.. but comes about 2 inches below the apples... Cover and boil until the apples are tender.
If you cooked them with the peals the run them through the food mill.. if you pealed them than mash them with a potato masher...
Add 1/2 C. of red hots.. ( little cinnamon candies)
1/4 C. dark brown sugar.. or a little stevia
1/4 t. Nutmeg
Mix it all up and enjoy.. it is amazing...
